Procurity Shareholders And Staff Get 'Sneak Peak' At New Faculty Of Pharmacy
On August 7th, 2008 Procurity Shareholders, Board of Directors, management, staff, and valued suppliers were welcomed into the Procurity Lecture Theatre, and then treated to a cocktail reception and tour of the soon-to-be opened Faculty of Pharmacy.
Procurity and special guests are welcomed in the new Procurity Lecture Theatre.
University of Manitoba Vice-Chancellor Dr. David Barnard, and Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy, were on hand to welcome Procurity's special guests and thanked Procurity Board of Directors, individual Procurity shareholders Super Thrifty Drugs, and company President & CEO Wayne Rivers for their vision and leadership.
"Without Procurity's foresight and generosity, I doubt I'd be standing here today in this incredible facility, speaking to you all..." said Collins, referring to the fact that Procurity, having been the first organization to come to the table with a generous contribution towards the Faculty's Capital Campaign, had set the tone and created a call to action for other pharmacy companies to step up and support the project.
Dean Collins conducts an informal tour of the Procurity Pharmaceutical Care Laboratory, as John Myers, Joss March and Jim Mitchell look on.
The Procurity Lecture Theatre is part of the 95,000 sq. ft. Apotex Centre facility which houses two additional lecture theatres, as well as substantial laboratory space, including the Procurity Pharmaceutical Care Lab, the Thorkelson Undergraduate Laboratory, and and the department of immunology. It is located just across the street from Brodie Centre at the University of Manitoba Bannatyne campus and is estimated to have been built at a cost of about $32 million.
David Barnard, President and Vice-Chancellor of the University, noted: “Procurity's contribution and the new facility will enhance an already excellent pharmacy education and research program through a state-of-the-art teaching and research centre.”
